US Soccer & United Soccer Coaches
SRI encourages coaches to participate in any coaching education programs offered. The two most well known license pathways are through United Soccer Coaches and US Soccer.
Coaches interested in US Soccer licenses may begin with Introduction to Grassroots Coaching in the U.S. Soccer Digital Coaching Center. For information regarding schedule, pricing and availability of an in-person Grassroots course, prospective coaches should contact their local club organization directly or Soccer Rhode Island.
For coaches planning on taking the US Soccer ‘D’ License and above, new regulations require the US Soccer Grassroots training for 4v4, 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11. To qualify for the ‘D’ License course, at least two grassroots in-person courses are required; one of which MUST be the 11v11 plus an additional online license course. To qualify for a ‘C’ license, a minimum of 1 year experience with a ‘D’ license is required.
United Soccer Coaches offers Diplomas and Coaching Development Courses through their eLearning Portal. The 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11 courses with United Soccer Coaches are not accepted as prerequisites for the US Soccer ‘D’ License.
